Where do you envisage your career going from here?
Well, at the moment I'm really, you know, I think I've got a lot to do on my list, my sociology list, at the moment so I'm sort of happily working on that. I guess it would be, I just sort of see myself going to, I mean well the next level is senior commissioning editor and then publisher, I don't particularly see myself as being director of a whole division or a company but just to stay within editorial and commissioning.
You never thought about moving into another area all together?
What you mean like a totally new? Well, sometimes I think of, I think people in publishing, it's just a kind of career hazard that you're always thinking 'well, what else could I do?' Because everyone's always complaining about lack of money so everyone's always planning to go and be a corporate lawyer.
Is it that badly paid?
I think once you sort of rise up it's not too bad but at the beginning there's a lot of high, people with a lot of qualifications who see their peers go off and be lawyers and earn lots of money and it is very low when you start. So, no, not seriously, it's either publishing or, or, you know when I return to academia (laughter).
