Did you have any uncertainty about the viva?
Yes yeah by the time you get to your viva you just don't know in your own head and it is very difficult to make an objective judgement of your own work; you don't know what is going to happen. I was very fortunate I went into the viva and they immediately told me they were very happy I'd got it and they said we want to talk about the issues that were brought up in it and so we spent two and a half hours going through that. But before the viva yes I was pretty nervous.
But there is a piece of advice I would always pass on if you have got a good supervisor he won't let you actually submit until he thinks its ready to submit you know and so until he or she thinks that the PhD actually is at a stage where it will pass a viva. And so that actually comes down to your supervisor quite a lot.
