Could you tell me a little bit about your PhD research topic?

It was late seventeenth century British history it was about irreligion and radical politics in the late seventeenth century in the History department and it was largely focused on issues around reading and writing and social networks in the late 17th century, and about although some of it was sort of touching on fairly traditional intellectual history or history of ideas stuff, it was also taking on board some aspects of things like history of the book and some stuff to do with manuscript cultures and circulation of books and materials that was really drawn from Eng Lit. So although it was in the History Department it probably could in some senses have fitted quite easily into Eng Lit. it was something which really took – although it wasn't really about a particular individual, it was taking this one character as a sort of central point through which I could explore a lot of other aspects of late seventeenth century stuff that I found of interest, it was building very much on my masters dissertation and on my third year special subject from my last undergraduate year which was on the English Enlightenment.
